Sajeenat is a new campaign led by Lan Nasmot that seeks to restore the human rights of women prisoners and detainees in Sudan.

Women under the mercy of law enforcement and the legal justice system in Sudan get denied many rights that assure a fair and just treatment, and they experience many violations throughout the stages of arrest, detention, trial and imprisonment.

In the upcoming weeks we will overview stories narrated by women prisoners and detainees themselves together with analysis that uncover the legal, social, economic and political contexts contributing to the violation of women’s human rights as they interact with a criminal justice system infected with the Public Order Regime mindset.
